Terry Gilliam, the acclaimed director, artist, writer, comedian, and actor who first achieved fame as a member of the British comedy troupe Monty Python and has received accolades for films such as “Brazil,” “12 Monkeys,” and “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” has signed an exclusive agreement with Decrypt Studios to release his first NFT. Gilliam began his career as an animator and illustrator and his surrealist visuals and animation clips became an iconic signature of the “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” sketch comedy television series in the 1970s.

Terry Gilliam’s first NFT is a visual representation of the nervousness the artist feels as we march toward a very different and less pleasant planet. The image, drawn from artwork that first appeared in a Monty Python animation, depicts the Earth as a bomb about to detonate while a faceless, overweight angel tries, but cannot escape the gravity of the situation. The original artwork has hung in the artist’s home for 50 years, and was photographed and animated for this project.
